Arepa Cafe

This Blog was originally written on June 1, 2010. I have left this blog in my drafts until now, but I have been inspired to post it, because it MAY just be the start of more food-related blogs.

I have updated it for your reading pleasure.

----------------
A couple weeks About 8 months ago my roommate food buddy katy and I decided to go walking along Queen Street West after my first softball meeting. As the sun was setting, our journey began. Having not eaten dinner but not exactly being hungry either, we decided that we should find cake!

We happened to stumble upon this place!

This is AREPA Cafe, a small venezuelan shop which had no more than 10 candle lit tables. Katy thought it was CREPA for the longest time, which may be attributed to the fact that she is blind! (:

An Arepa is a common flat round, unleavened piece of grilled, baked, or fried, ground corn/cornmeal dough, that is popular in Colombian and Venezuelan cuisine, similar to a tortilla, which is filled and garnished with different items.

However, because they were almost closing and most of their ingredients were packed away, here we opted shared the most DIVINE of desserts!

This Tres Leches was not only light and creamy on the outside, but moist and scrumptous on the inside!
It was the perfect amount of sweet anyone could use at that hour!

Arepas definitely hit the spot with this small wonder, and calls for a return visit in the near future, so that we can REALLY try what they are known for..

but until then (:
